John Oates is one of the world's top experts on African primates, and he literally wrote the book on their conservation: the IUCN/SSC Action Plan for African Primates. His announcement, with Scott McGraw and other colleagues, of the final extinction of Procolobus badius waldroni follows seven years of intensive surveys in Gabon and Cote d'Ivoire. For more information about his research, see his CUNY faculty page at http://web.gc.cuny.edu/anthropology/fac_oates.html. |
