| Job Description: | Funding for these positions is 2 years, additional funding may be available to continue. These position are located in the USDA field offices in the locations listed above. Funding is provided by State, Local and Federal partners, including IL Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), USDA-Farm Service Agency, Wildlife Conservation Society and Local Pheasants Forever (PF) and Quail Forever (QF) Chapters. The incumbent serves as a Farm Bill Biologist providing biological/wildlife aspects of USDA Conservation Programs, IDNR and PF/QF programs to agriculture producers and landowners. These positions will be an employee of Pheasants Forever, Inc. and receive primary supervision from PF/QF with supervision and instruction provided by local partners.
Duties: * Provide technical assistance (wildlife biology focus) and guidance to landowners, government agencies, non-government organizations and others. (Training will be provided the USDA, PF/QF, IDNR and other local and state agencies). * Coordinate the implementation and application of biological sciences within the conservation programs in cooperation with the local NRCS District Conservationist, IDNR private lands biologist, PF/QF staff, and others. * Complete contracts, applications and other required documentation for conservation programs (i.e. CRP, WRP, WHIP etc) requiring biological expertise in cooperation with the listed partners. * Communicate program requirements, complete site visits to determine eligibility, and develop contracts/plans for applicants enrolling in USDA Conservation Programs or other state and local conservation programs. * Performs other related duties as assigned. |

| Qualifications: |
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with landowners and partner agencies
* Ability to work independently with little supervision and with diverse clientele * Working knowledge of wildlife ecology, wetland and grassland management including the ability to utilize various habitat management tools in the development of a management plans. * Working knowledge of agricultural conservation issues and wildlife programs provided by Federal (i.e. Farm Bill, US Fish and Wildlife Service), State, and PF/QF. * Excellent verbal/written communication and organizational skills * Valid drivers license required, use of personal vehicle required (mileage reimbursement provided) Training and Experience Guideline: Any combination of training and/or experience that will enable the applicant to possess the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A general qualification guideline for this position is a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Management or closely related natural resources field and 1 year related field experience.
