| Job Description: | Technician needed to assist with a graduate research project in the Delta of Arkansas near Cherry Valley from 18 Dec-16 Mar. Technician will participate with trapping, banding, and radio tracking of Mallards, as well as habitat sampling. This study is looking at habitat use and foraging ranging patterns of wintering Mallards. Technician will also be assisting with collecting necessary field data including GPS coordinates, triangulation, vegetation surveys and habitat characteristics. Position will be contingent on the approval of funding. |
| Qualifications: | Previous field experience including banding migratory birds, radio telemetry, operation of 4-wheelers, and outboard motors. This study will be conducted during the winter and temperatures can vary from 0° to 60° F. Must be willing to work in adverse winter weather conditions. Also, technician must be willing to work very flexible hours based on weather, movement patters of birds, and telemetry sampling needs. Must be capable of working independently. A valid drivers license and ability to lift 40 lbs are required. Application deadline is 30 Nov 2009.
