Job Description: The U.S. Forest Service Southern Research Station will be filling 1-2 Biological Technician positions for a research project investigating deer fawn mortality at the U.S. Department of Energys Savannah River Site near Aiken, SC. The positions will begin work in January 2010 and will be temporary, not to exceed 8 months. Work will involve capture and radio-instrumentation of adult does (via rocket nets and dart guns), fawn capture and radio-monitoring, coyote surveys, and vegetation sampling. Qualifications: Experience with deer and telemetry preferred but not required. Ability and willingness to work a very flexible schedule (including nights and weekends), both independently and as a member of a team, in sometimes harsh field conditions is essential. Must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible.
Salary: GS-4 (approx $13.00/hr)
