| Job Description: | PLEASE NOTE: Two temporary, full-time positions available, ending 31 August 2010. ~10% travel required. Start date is somewhat flexible.
General Position Description: Under the direction of the Hatchery Biologist, the Fish Hatchery Technician assists in propagation, rearing and distribution of fish species. Performs skilled field and maintenance work necessary for the operation of a state fish hatchery. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division, and branch rules, regulations, and procedures. Working Conditions: (1) Required to work flexible hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with days off other than Saturday, Sunday, and holidays; (2) Required to work night and weekend hours; (3) Required travel throughout the state; (4) Required to perform job assignments in inclement weather (5) Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles. |

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from high school or GED. Preferred Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Fisheries Science or related biological science. Experience: Fish and Wildlife Technician (FWT) I: No experience required. FWT II: Two years Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) FWT I experience performing duties related to the specific position. Acceptable Substitution: A relevant Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required two years experience at the FWT II level. License/Certifications: Must possess or be able to obtain, within thirty days of employment, a valid class "C" Texas Driver's license. NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license. Preferred Licensure: SCUBA certified.
